The KAIST Institute (KI) of KAIST (https://kis.kaist.ac.kr), located in Daejeon, Korea, invites applications for KI Fellow and KI Postdoc positions in the areas described below.


For the KI Fellows, we seek scientists and engineers capable of developing their own research programs independently and guiding graduate students.  The initial appointment includes 2 years of support with a competitive salary (comparable to that of the tenure-track faculty at KAIST), benefits, and 100M Korean Won seed money to cover their initial research expenses.  KAIST is interested in recruiting some of the successful KI Fellows as tenure-track professors.


For the KI postdocs, we seek early-career scientists and engineers having the potential to do outstanding research. The KI Postdocs are expected to work with our faculty members and KI Fellows.  The initial appointment includes an annual salary of 50M Korean Won and benefits.

These positions are open to both Korean and non-Korean candidates.  We welcome international applications. Biology and Bioengineering - KI BioCentury(KIB) aims to understand molecular mechanism of human diseases caused by aging process, and to develop means to treat these diseases. We are especially focusing on cancer progression and neurodegenerative diseases. The applicants for KI Fellows should have Ph.D. and postdoc training, and be experienced in investigating molecular dynamics on protein complexes involved in human diseases with strong background in structural biology. We also seek KI postdocs in all sub-fields of experimental biology and bioengineering. Any enquiries should be directed to Prof. Sun-Chang Kim, Search Committee Chair, sunkim@kaist.ac.kr.


Information and Communication Technology – KI IT Convergence (KI ITC) aims to have a leadership in the areas of 5G mobile communications, internet of things (IOT), and integrated sensors. The applicants should have Ph.D. degrees and experiences in mm-wave and IC technologies, integrated sensors, or IOT related technologies including smart healthcare. Nanotechnology for Climate Change and Healthcare – Applicants are welcome in areas of nanotechnology for climate change and healthcare, including CO2 capture and conversion, advanced battery, membrane, solar cell and healthcare sensor. Vision and Image Processing for Robot Applications, Artificial Intelligence for Robots, and Field Robotics - We invite applicants specialized in these areas, but other relevant and promising robotics fields will be considered as well. Optical Science and Technology - We look for applicants with expertise in the biophotonics, imaging probe, biomedical imaging analysis, and optical instrumentation. These includes confocal, two-photon, super-resolution, lightsheet microscopy, OCT, photo-acoustics, structured illumination, adaptive optics, structured illumination, and other emerging optical techniques, targeting mainly brain and other organs.
