Professor Sun Chang Kim, Director of KI for the BioCentury (KIB) has been appointed as Head Director of the Global Frontier Program (GFP) of National Research Foundation (NRF) of Korea.
Director Kim of KIB leads the new "GFP for the intelligent synthetic biology", with the grant for a total of 120,000 million won for the next 9 years from NRF.
The new GFP aims at establishing a research hub where scientists will perform world-class fundamental and applied researches in the design and synthesis of an intelligent biological system, and in turn, create new growth engines for Korea in biotechnology.
The new GFP’s vision is to develop new cutting edge technologies, so-called BioDesigneering, to facilitate the emergence of target-oriented intelligent biological systems.
The new GFP directed by Dr. Kim also collaborates with researchers from premiere universities and biotech companies worldwide to facilitate the dissemination and exploitation of its research results.
