KAIST Fourth Industrial Revolution Intelligence Center (FIRIC) is created in July 2017 to lead global research and collaboration on the technological and socioeconomic impacts of the Fourth Industrial Revolution by monitoring the trends of emerging technologies underpinning the Fourth Industrial Revolution on a real-time basis as well as by pioneering new approaches to policy and governance issues accompanying the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Research Theme

FIRIC’s research and collaboration activities center around the following three themes:

 

 

 

• Monitoring of science and technology trends related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution

- Identification and tracking of core technologies driving the Fourth Industrial Revolution
- Generation of S&T maps for the Fourth Industrial Revolution based on big-data analysis

 

• Long-term foresight on future society and technologies in the age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution

- Studying key drivers of macro-level changes
- Creating future scenario by field, area, or sector of future society
- Projecting future S&T changes with the forecasting of social trends

 

• Development of global and local platform for inclusive growth in the age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution

- Agenda-setting for inclusive growth based on S&T
- Derivation of global and local solutions to policy and governance challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution
