KAIST Institute for Information Technology (KI-ITC) is participating in the "IT Convergence Korea 2009", held on October 13th~16th at KINTEX in Ilsan. The exhibition is sponsored by The Ministry of Knowledge & Economy of Korea (MKE) and organized by Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), Korea Venture Business Association (KOVA), The Electronic Times.


KI-ITC is participating with 5 exhibition items which are "Foldable Sheeting Keyboard", "Shopping agent service in the pervasive display environment", "Gesture based English learning application", "Technologies of real-time health monitoring and bio-signal anaysis/diagnosis based on bio-impedance", and "The new health-booster for bio-signal monitoring and health improvement"

KOTRA to hold an exhibition on the convergence of IT and non-IT
From 13-16 October at KINTEX
Accompanied by one-on-one consulting for foreign buyers
& An international conference on IT convergence


The exhibition ‘IT Convergence Korea 2009’, which is set to focus on the development of IT convergence industry and how it has become integrated with the conventional industries such as autos and ships, will be held for the first time.


Organized by the KOTRA and the Korea Venture Business Association and hosted by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, this exhibition will be held from 13-16 October at KINTEX in Goyang,    Gyeonggi  Province. Distinguished from conventional and IT industries, IT Convergence Korea 2009 is expected to offer displays solely on IT convergence as an independent industry. In this light, KOTRA is looking to support overseas promotion of domestic exhibition companies by inviting about 300 foreign buyers in related sectors.


IT Convergence Korea 2009 will includes an IT convergence hall named “Future Experience Hall”, with a total of six exhibition halls: “Green Car” (vehicle), “Digital Shipbuilding” (ship), “Welfare Convergence Platform” (medical sector), “Smart Grid” (electricity), “U-city” (construction), and “ITS & e-Government” (transportation and administration).


“Green Car” will show off a variety of IT technologies integrated with cars such as those which cut greenhouse-gas emissions as well as environmentally-friendly driving systems. At the Digital Shipbuilding display, state-of-the-art technologies related to ship movement, a satellite communication system, and an intelligent ship damage system will be exhibited. In the health care sector, technologies integrated with construction and fabric industries will be introduced, and in Smart Grid, new technologies controlling power usage are expected to be showcased.


The “Future Experience Hall”, set to run separately, will boast plenty of futuristic advanced technologies like computers with voice keyboards, voice technology that operates vehicle systems, and robots whose uses range from home cleaning to safety to after-school education.


“IT Convergence Korea 2009 marks the first time worldwide that an exhibition will introduces IT technology and products integrated with conventional industries, and we will expand our IT technologies into as many industrial fields as possible through this opportunity,” said Hyo-Choon, Yoon, head of the IT Industry Department of KOTRA.


KOTRA plans to invite 200 domestic companies to the show, while companies interested in participating in the show are asked to contact KOTRA’s IT Convergence Team at 82-2-3460-7469 or the Korea Venture Business Association at 82-2-890-6367.

Focusing on the 17 new growth engines designated by the Korean government to lead the country into the future, IT Convergence Korea 2009, held under the theme of ‘Your Smart Life with IT Convergence’ will be the nation’s first exhibition to introduce IT convergence with global competitiveness.


KOTRA,   Korea’s national trade and investment promotion agency specializing in attracting foreign investments and promoting trade and outbound investment by Korean companies, plans to beef up its support to find markets for participating companies and to attract additional foreign investment into the country.
